Decide about EXT output in combination with object editing

Follow-up to MR !1505 (merged) discussion !1505 (comment 49680)

A decision is needed if object editing should be allowed for EXT output, or if EXT should be kept as a pass-through mode and the editing would be done between the decoder and external renderer.
