[CI] explicitly print out the commit of the used reference

Pure CI change. Add a printout of the commit sha used for the reference in comparison jobs. It was not shown previously e.g. for the long self test and this can help debug unexpected failures (yesterday there was some network problem/hiccup with one of our runners which may have resulted in it ignoring an update to main - which would be now visible in the job log).
